Jameelah has been singing since she was 6 years old. She was inspired by her mother an outstanding vocalist, piano player and voice coach. Her desire to pursue a career singing and performing started at a very young age.
She comes from a family of musicians and singers on both her mother's and father's side of the family. She performed in many local bands in her home-town, Kansas City Ks., as a backup singer and lead vocalist. She and other members of her family formed singing groups and performed in many local events and competitions in Kansas and the surrounding areas.
She performed covered songs of Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Teena Marie, Patti La Belle, etc..., receiving much recognition and rewards performing in bands and as a solo act. But as she matured and developed, she started writing, producing her own material.
She relocated to Colorado in the early part of 2000. Continuing to perform songs of some of her favorite
artist like Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, The Emotions, Heather Headley and many of the
neo-soul and smooth sounding artist of today and yesterday, still deeply desiring to perform and sing her own songs.
After introducing her unique sounds to the community of Colorado in a solo act, she networked with local musicians to then start her first band "Jameelah and the Soulful Grooves". All the while she developed her Production Company/Record Label "Jameelah Productions Inc. and produced her debut CD "Jameelah's World", co-produced with Bryan Gordon, later to start her second and thrid band "Jameelah and The Jameelah World Band" and "The Jameelah World Jazz Quartet"
Jameelah's music is relaxing soulful, sultry and smooth. It's neo-soul/easy listening light jazz. Her style is smooth and sultry but soulful. She writes music from her soul and express in her lyrics real life experience about people, relationships and life lessons, we can all relate to. Her words make you think about and appreciate life and the gifts it offer. "Jameelah's World" includes soul,
neo-soul, nu-jazz, and inspirational tracks, Released May 30th, 2007 and was produced for Jameelah Productions Inc.
